"ZIMDANCE 2010 - OH WHAT A NIGHT!!"

A team of volunteers together with Ashanti Coffee hosted their 2nd annual Zimdance at the Marsh St Centre in Clarksburg on June 19 th. The event themed ‘Families Helping Families’ was a benefit fundraiser for Patson Chipiro and his 3 children in Zimbabwe, whose home was burnt to the ground last year, when Patson’s wife was tortured and murdered in state sponsored violence. $2,500 was raised over the course of the evening, and bidding was rife for the two major live auction items offering two nights at the Pine Cove Lodge and the other for two nights at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. Guests loved the 3D African hut display, smaller children were entertained downstairs in a craft centre, and it was truly a community family event with 3 generations being seen on the dance floor enjoying the music provided by the well-known Rockafellers. Said David Wilding-Davies, Ashanti owner, “ Individuals and local business owners have been incredibly generous. With so many events going on the same weekend, we are humbled at the great turnout of our community to support the needs of Zimbabwe’s families.”

MEET PATSON & HIS CHILDREN

LIVES CHANGED THROUGH ZIMDANCE

Together We Have Made a Difference!

Funds raised at Zimday and Zimdance last year were used to rebuild the lives of Patson Chipiro and his three children. Patson’s wife was tortured and murdered, and their home burnt to the ground because Patson is an active member of the opposition party, MDC. Patson's wish list included: To rebuild their home - 2500 bricks, 1 tonne river sand, 10 bags of cement, 4 doors and doorframes, 12 window panes, and the cost of a builder. His three children needed trauma counselling, school uniforms and school fees. Zimday raised $2300 and Zimdance raised $2500! Thank you for your support!
